How to Use Spare Containers for Neat Bento Lunch Boxes

Quick answer

Use spare Neat Bento containers as backup compartments for sauces, snacks, or sides when your main containers are in the dishwasher.

Steps to pack with spare containers

1. Choose the right container size: Select the 4.5 oz container for larger portions like yogurt or fruit, and the 2 oz container for dressings or dips. A common mistake is using a too-large container for a small sauce, which wastes space. Match container volume to portion size for a snug fit in your bento box.
2. Fill and seal properly: Fill the container to no more than 90% capacity to allow for expansion if freezing. Press the lid down firmly until it clicks to ensure a leak-proof seal. Check that the seal is intact before placing it in your lunch bag. Overfilling can cause leaks—leave a small air gap.
3. Incorporate into your bento layout: Place the spare container into a compartment of your Neat Bento box. If packing multiple items, arrange heavier containers at the bottom to prevent tipping. Use the 2 oz container for wet items like salsa to keep them separate from dry snacks. Position containers to balance weight and avoid spills during transit.
